Preparation is the collective name for various textile processes on fabric or yarns such as [[pretreatment]], [[bleaching]], [[mercerising]], [[dyeing]], [[printing]] and post/[[after-treatments]].
Resource consumption in the textile industry, namely energy, water and chemical consumption are among other things linked to the wet-treatments during preparation. In other mechanical processing such as [[spinning]], [[weaving]], [[knitting]], and [[making-up]] it is primarily electrical energy that is needed, while the wet process requires a lot of energy for heating the bath and the drying and heat treatment of textile materials. In addition, the wet processes requires water and chemicals.
